Hit or Miss

I figured it was about time for a potty update, and the truth is: the boys are hit or miss (pun intended)! Yes, Drew joined in on the fun with Grayson, but neither of them are regulars on the big boy potty.

Grayson did great for that first week or so, even sticking to it while I was away with Roe in the hospital. But then he started going in his pull-ups, and while technically still a diaper, it's not fun cleaning that up, so it was back to diapers.

Drew wasn't interested for a while...always wanting candy, but never even wanting to sit on the potty. Then while getting ready for bed one night, he ran to the potty chair and said he needed to go poopy, and guess what? - he did! He was so excited (above photo!) and so was I. Yeah, finally 2 pieces of candy for Drew!

Well that was a couple of weeks ago, and they are both still wearing diapers most of the time. They usually go on the potty when I change their diapers, before or after their bath, etc... I feel like they could be more consistent, but at the same time, I just want to let them get there when they're truly ready. (I don't want to clean up messes!) I mean, they know when they have to go. Drew has started telling me "I just wet my diaper." And when it's poopy time, they do what many kiddos do...run off to be by themselves to do their business...hiding in the closet, behind a chair, the wagon, or whatever! (If I'd pay attention a little faster I might could get them to the potty in time, but that's not usually the case.)

Now that it's summer time, we are outside most of the day and I usually take their shirts off for a while (for tanning purposes, a little vitamin D, and because their clothes are always wet from playing in the water!) I guess I should take it a step further and take their bottoms off....maybe THEN they'd use the potty...
